Alpha Zeta Delta Completes Successful “Stuff the Bus” Event
Alpha Zeta Delta's Stuff the Bus philanthropy was a great success. With the permission and support of Wal-Mart, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, and the Salvation Army, the Alpha collected approximately $1,600 worth of non-perishable food items.
Wal-Mart allowed several Brothers to conduct this philanthropy outside its Champaign, IL store for eight hours on August 21, 2008.The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District donated the use of a 30-foot bus for the event, which was parked outside the Wal-Mart entrance.Four to eight Brothers worked each of the two store entrances in two shifts throughout the day.As customers entered, Brothers introduced themselves and explained the "Stuff the Bus" philanthropy concept. They asked customers to add to their purchases two non-perishable food items for donation.
Most customers donated eagerly and generously. The Salvation Army staff was very excited by the amount of food collected.
Alpha Zeta Delta graciously and humbly borrowed the idea from Alpha Theta Delta after learning about its successful event at the 167th Convention. Both Alphas have scheduled a debriefing teleconference to plan for future successful “Stuff the Bus” events and encourage any interested Alphas to contact them for information.

Glad to hear about this successful event. I'm proud of my Alpha and Chi Psi overall for this spirit of philanthropy.
